Things I’ll never own …

Headphones more expensive than many cars

As I write this on January 10, 2016, the Powerball jackpot is estimated to sit at roughly $1.3 Billion for the Wednesday evening (13 Jan) drawing.

So perhaps if I were to be a winner of some portion of this level of cash, I suppose I might conceivably consider purchasing something fancy.  Who knows?  I have no idea how having that much money would change me.

But, since I also know that I’ll never win Powerball (mostly because I rarely if ever buy a ticket – oh, and not to mention the billions-to-one odds involved) I know that with a price tag of $50,000, the Sennheiser Orpheus headphone system isn’t something I’ll ever own.

Various tech journalists who have written about this system after seeing it at CES this past week have been raving about the sound.  I’m not even certain that my ears could tell the difference between this system and an excellent pair of regular pro sound headphones of a much more pedestrian lineage.  But hell, I’m the guy who’s perfectly happy using a basic pair of Plantronics Backbeat bluetooth headphones and a streaming music service on my Android phone.

‘Course I’m getting old, too, so to my ears pretty much anything sounds good at this point.
