Every spring, I go to Las Vegas to attend the National
Association of Broadcasters convention. Most years in the past,
the trip has been via a big ol' jet airliner - last year, I was stopped
from riding down by snow, ice and only two days of available travel
time. This year, I was determined that I wasn't going to be
stopped by weather and gave myself more time.So, on Saturday, April 10, 2004, I struck out from Portland for a week's vacation prior to attending the convention. I headed for the Oregon coast near Newport and stayed on the coast road from there all the way to San Diego. Phoenix was the next stop and then on in to Las Vegas for a week of meetings and work. The trip home was via Death Valley then up in to the Sierra Nevada range.
I've got a fair number of pictures from the first half of the trip included here. Unfortunately, my digital camera ceased to function correctly around Los Angeles - I later learned that the battery was almost dead but was giving no indication of that, so I didn't understand why my camera was freaking out. I gave up on it and didn't get it figured out until I got home, therefore, there are almost no pictures of the northbound trip - although I did get one shot in Death Valley.
The trip took place from April 10th through April 24th, 2004
and covered 3,109 miles.
